Week 11: Personalizing a Bag

This week’s artist date was not purely meant for fun. We run a small-scale dog boarding and were organizing a dog walk for our guests and their owners later that week, from which the profit would go to the local dog shelter. During the walk, I wanted to hand out goodie bags with our logo on them. Nele, one of our many nieces, has a Silhouette Cameo at home, the perfect machine for making said bags.

Beforehand, I wondered if this could really be considered as an artist date as it was more result-oriented than process-oriented. On the other hand, I really like making something new, it was an activity I had never done before, and my inner artist would certainly enjoy it. So with all that in mind, my conclusion was that it was okay as a date.

On a Tuesday morning, I went to see Nele. She explained to me how the machine worked, and stayed in the neighbourhood in case I had any questions. She did the most complicated tasks, while I enjoyed making the labels, peeling unnecessary parts off, and then pressing them onto the bags.

I quite like the result!

Our dog walk was a success, and the goodie bags were very popular!
