Week 27: Walking with Alpaca’s

As my previous animal dates – cow cuddling, horse riding and pig cuddling – all brought so much joy, I wanted to try yet another one: walking with alpaca’s.

It was on a warm, sunny Sunday when I went to a beautiful green meadow; the location of my appointment. A nice woman, Els, welcomed me and introduced me to her four animals: three alpaca’s and one sheep. She gave me carrots so that I could feed the animals. This way, they could get used to me a little. The bravest alpaca  came immediately, as well as the sheep. It was fun feeding them, hearing them munch and touching their fur.

Els put a harness on the three alpaca’s (the sheep always stayed close by during walks) and off we went. The slow pace, the wind in my hair, the rays of the sun on my skin, … it all helped me stay in the present moment. No need to talk to someone, ruminate the past or plan for the future. It was just about enjoying the here-and-now: the best part of an artist date!
