Week 26: Sewing a Hat

More than 20 years ago, I followed a sewing course for 4 months. Since then, I sewed the curtains in our home and a few clothes for my children when they were younger, but never a hat.

First, I had to choose which hat I wanted to sew. I found a pattern on Etsy, which was pretty easy to make even for confident beginners. With a list of the materials needed, I then went to the fabric store. That was an adventure in of itself: seeing all the colours and patterns, feeling the different materials. I had a hard time choosing, but finally decided upon a cotton fabric with a black and white flower pattern.

During the process of cutting and sewing, I forgot to bring my attention into the present moment. Looking back though, my attention was directed to what I was doing and I was really enjoying myself making something out of the raw materials.

It’s date number 26 already, and I’m amazed by how many different things I can now do that I had never done before. My life is filled with adventure nowadays!
