Week 18a: Swimming in the Ocean

This week, I was on a holiday break with my husband in Portugal, in Ria Formosa Natural Parc. There, we took a boat trip to two islands, Deserta Island and Farol Island. It was a late sunny afternoon in March, the temperature was high enough for a dive in the ocean, and so I did.

Beforehand, I already decided this was a date, and treated it likewise. I took my time to soak up the experience: I listened to the sounds, felt the warmth of the wind touching my face and felt the cold of the salty water against my skin. Whilst swimming, I kept my attention towards my body and my breath. I listened to the sounds of the waves and looked around.

The swim lasted only about 15 minutes, but I really used those 15 minutes to be in the present and being aware of what I was experiencing. And that in itself, brings more value to it.
